You're not supposed to cry over spilled milk, but let me make my case to the contrary.
I haven't gotten adequate sleep for six weeks.
My house and personal hygeine have suffered because of my lack of energy, and the distractions aplenty haven't helped. I'm sick of changing diapers. The one thing I did this week to clean the house was mop the kitchen floor Wednesday night so we wouldn't sacrifice our socks to its stickiness, only to have a 5 foot diameter fall-out zone the next time Leah had a meal.
Chris has been sick all week, missing work to sleep afternoons. This morning Leah woke up with a cough and sore throat. It's only a matter of time until the baby and I get it. Does this mean we'll all be sick on President's Day?
Although I do have cabin fever, everytime I try to go somewhere, I end up more exhausted than its worth. (Yeah, spontaneously bursting into tears at the Walmart customer service desk isn't exactly what I had in mind when I decided to get out of the house...)
So given a severe energy deficit and my anxiety about the kitchen floor, is it okay to cry when the floor gets doused with the contents of a bowl of soggy, milky cheerios, and I have to clean it up?

Jenny...
I feel for you. Seriously. I remember those days. Lets be honest, I still have those days. I will say this, it does get better. My really good friend is having her second tomorrow and I told her the other night, 'wrap you mind around the fact that your whole world is going to be rocked, and you'll be okay'. I hope you get to go out for your big shopping trip, I am excited to see your finds!
Definitely it's all right to cry. (If you know that one, go ahead and break into song, "It's alright to cry, crying takes the sad out of you. It's alright to cry, it might make you feel better.") It is also a lot better to want to cry than to want to wring someone's neck. :)
I feel for you Jenny. I had a really hard mommy day the other day and many tears were shed. Look what these children are doing to us!!! But I still love it and I'm sure you do too.
i hope chris is better--i have been on my deathbed this week, as well. this is a nasty virus going around--i can't ever remember being this sick, ever! my head, joints, back, eyes, and even skin hurts, i've been hacking my lungs out, etc. i was supposed to work wednesday night but they sent me home. i dragged myself out of bed yesterday because i had 2 exams to take (neither of which i had studied for)--too bad my professors didn't send me home. i am now off to work today (saturday), for a most likely very busy day, and work tomorrow (sunday)--i don't know how much energy i'm going to have for our presidents day adventure, but i'll try!
Rememer--you are the same Super Mom who breast-feeds one handed and made lemon tarts last week. What a difference a night's sleep makes! Mom
